San Francisco’s 38 Must-Try Restaurants, October 2014

It’s time to update the Eater 38, your answer and ours to any question starting with “Can you recommend a restaurant?” This highly elite group spans the entire city, covers a myriad of cuisines, and collectively satisfies all of your dining needs. Every few months, we add relevant restaurants that have been missed, are newly eligible (restaurants must have been open for at least six months), or have stepped up their game. And keep in mind that this list is presented in no particular order.

As always, a few places have to leave 38, including St. Vincent (currently undergoing a chef change), Greens and Burma Superstar. In their place, we offer verbena, a great new vegetarian option; Trou Normand, home of epic charcuterie and cocktails; and Padrecito, a neighborhood Mexican spot with killer food and drink. (If you’re looking to find a great bar, the Cocktail Eater SF heatmap has what you’re looking for.)

Rather than having a phase four meltdown after excluding your favorite restaurant from the list, wouldn’t it be more productive to just propose it for inclusion?
