Chef Jet Tila tastes Chippi at Marisol’s Cafe in Dartmouth on Tuesday

DARTMOUTH – The much loved Chippi at Marisol’s Coffee was finally officially tasted and reviewed by a celebrity chef.

Chef Jet Tila surprised cafe staff in Dartmouth on Tuesday morning when he walked in with a friend to specifically sample Marisol’s ‘overcharged’ coffee drink Chippi.

The celebrity chef was on his way to UMass Dartmouth for a meeting and an Educational Kitchen Pop-Up from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“He said, ‘It definitely tastes like dessert in a cup’ and he felt like he was going to be very energetic after drinking it,” said Tara McWilliams, a nanny-in-training at the cafe. .

McWilliams said he also took pictures with all the managers.

“We were all a little fan-girling.”

Tila is an American celebrity chef, author, restaurateur and owner of The Charleston and Pakpao Thai restaurants, both located in Los Angeles, California.

He has appeared in various television series including “Beat Bobby Flay”, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate”, “Chopped” and “Guy’s Grocery Games” and co-host of the“Halloween Cookie Challenge” which airs this month on Food network.

Cafe cook Nate Perry said he was the first to recognize Tila because he watched him on the ‘Cutthroat Kitchen’ cooking series and immediately told the rest of the staff.

“He was really down to earth as a celebrity, very easy going, he took pictures and we all said shit like anything for my fans. Very cool,” said Brandi Souza, a another manager, adding that he also had a Marisol’s Cafe gray hoodie.

“He was super excited to have a sweatshirt because he wanted to represent.”
