Celebrate National Toast Day at these San Francisco restaurants

Our obsession with toast has far exceeded that of avocado.

All over San Francisco, you’ll find cafes, coffee shops, and even upscale restaurants that turn plain toast into flavorful and creative dishes, with sweet, savory, and unique toppings to match.

Not that you ever need an excuse to order a slice of toast, but given that National Toast Day is February 23, Yelp has shared a list of the most popular SF destinations to grab this coveted treat. .

Avocado toast lovers can be sure to find this option at most of the companies mentioned in the slideshow above, but those looking for something different can also find a variety of toasts that will satisfy even the skeptics.

On the more creative side, there’s Neighbor Bakehouse with a kimchi toast. There’s also Alexander’s Steakhouse, which serves plain toast with Wagyu beef. There are also plenty of sweet options, like The Mill’s classic toast with cinnamon and sugar.

Of course, when we talk about toast, we have to mention the prices. Of the toasts mentioned on this list, the most affordable cost around $4 (like those served at The Mill). At the higher end of the toast spectrum, Alexander’s Steakhouse Plain Special Toast is $33.

For their methodology, Yelp rounded up businesses in the restaurant and food category with large concentrations of reviews mentioning “toast.” They then ranked these spots based on factors including total volume and ratings from critics mentioning “toast.”

Alas, the list only scratches the surface. Check out more toast options here.
