Village Pizzeria in the Inner Richmond is pretty standard pizza for San Francisco. There are a plethora of pizza places in San Francisco and in the Inner Richmond, but Village Pizzeria is basically average. The nice thing about Village Pizzeria is that it’s a sit down place with good service, beer, and a couple of TVs but you can order any pizza by the slice. They also serve a side salad that is surprisingly good for a couple of dollars. They give you a delicious little garlic roll while you’re waiting (I’m not sure if they always do this or if it’s with the salad because I always get the little salad).
The thick crust at Village Pizza is really good and filling, but the regular crust is just so-so. The hot wings are probably frozen from a bag, but still ok. The “Chef’s Special” is a good Margherita-style option and I really like the BBQ Chicken pizza. The calzones are really big, but a little light on the filling. They don’t skimp on the toppings for the pizza though and service has always been friendly and quick. It may be because there are a lot of options for pizza in the Inner Richmond (Nizario’s and Giorgio’s within 2 blocks), but Village never seems very busy. The best thing about this place is the beer special on Mondays and Thursdays, one of the better deals for dinner in San Francisco. They have $4.50 Rolling Rock pitchers and $5.50 Red Tail Ale pitchers with a $5 food purchase per person. Any other day of the week, I think there are better options for pizza in the Inner Richmond and many more choices for pizza in San Francisco as a whole.
