Triptych has a lot going for it and it's not just the food. You can go to this SoMa restaurant to experience the Best Disco Bathroom (there was a real newspaper poll), or enjoy dining with a DJ playing in the background or come enjoy the ever-changing (and for sale) art on the walls. It's totally a cool place to dine in San Francisco and feel like you're part of the in crowd without any pretense.
The food ain't bad either! I've dined there several times. I've enjoyed a brunch in the little tiny patio out back. No view but you can get some sun and have a nice meal with no street noise! For brunch I really enjoyed the Omelet Jamon. While some would say it's just a ham & cheese omelet, the dijon cream really adds a nice subtle kick to it. And a friend ordered the vegetable panini which was nice and fresh but what really put that over the top was the amazing sweet potatoe fries. YUM! On another visit for dinner, I really enjoyed the Sea bass. Sometimes I find this can be prepared wrong and completely lack flavor. But the blueberry glaze really enhanced the fish and made each bite totally satisfying.
All-in-all, Triptych is really a fun place to go for a meal - maybe before an evening of South of Market clubbing or theatre or just to be surrounded by nice art, friendly people and cool music (in or out of the bathroom). For the high quality, you'd expect to pay more, but it's very reasonable for San Francisco.
They have happy hour every Tuesday to Friday from 5-7pm, with Soju cocktails (Asian vodka), but close early around 10pm on weeknights and 10.30pm at weekends. You should also make a note that Triptych is closed every Monday and on Sunday nights.
