What’s on the menu? Tommy Toys specializes in high-end
Chinese cuisine with a European flare. Lunch and Dinner menus
are available with set menu options that will leave you having
to undo a notch or two on your pants at the nights end! Servings
are garnished for added flare. The 5 course “Executive Lunch”
(approx $22 a head) is a popular luncheon item for the local business
community. This meal consists of minced squab “imperial”
(can be a little messy), crab meat and cheese wonton (delicious
to bite into), Grilled tiger prawns (a hit on the menu list),
& stir fried beef with garlic. Rice is served on the side.
The Signature Dinner menu is the popular option for evening dining
and also the most costly (approx $60 a head). However with 6 full
courses and a side of rice with dessert, you leave the restaurant
very content. The seafood bisque is a hit on this menu –
imagine a succulent seafood soup served in a clay pot coated with
a layer of puff pastry ready to explode with the juices and heat
from the soup. Delicious, leaving you wanting more. Lobster, Peking
Duck , “imperial” squab and our stir fried beef from
Lunch are also on the menu. The Peking Duck is a serving hit –
carving & serving the duck in front of you!
Service: Your Tommy Toys waiter will serve you
in an upbeat manner and explain the menu on offer and his/her
recommendation for your party (which of course, will be the more
expensive option). Each menu item will be brought out by a team
of bus-boys, with the lead waiter presenting the menu “artworks”
to you. For those that are new to a specialty dish, you will be
shown how to safely eat your meal without any clothing disasters.
The service is very courteous, which should be expected at a high
end restaurant, although it is sometimes hard to tell if you are
being mocked a little by the waiting staff who have already had
to show numerous parties how to hold their food.
Restaurant style: Tommy Toys has a high end, European antique
store feeling to it. As you enter the restaurant you are greeted
by your host/hostess. The walls are surrounded with photo’s
of famous actors, actresses, politicians, models – you name
the person, some how there is a photo of someone famous who has
eaten there. Immediately you think, well this must be good then!
As your hostess parades you through this famous wall of faces
you are then led into the main dining chamber. Beautiful and ornate
it is! Your waiter takes over from here.
What to watch out for: If you
are on a budget then you might want to think twice about coming
here for Dinner. However if you are wanting to impress that special
someone, or celebrate, then this is the place for you. Advanced
reservations are required for prime reservation times (6-9pm)
so be sure to call ahead. Groups are more than welcome, especially
if they have a company credit card from a nearby investment company!
