| It’s nice to have something other than Pizza or Asian in the Inner Richmond (A.K.A. The New Chinatown); The Roadside BBQ restaurant brings that variety to the restaurant mix. The Roadside BBQ has big windows looking out on Geary and its tables and booths each have a roll of paper towels on them. This San Francisco BBQ restaurant is newly remodeled so the stained wood interior is clean and inviting. Roadside serves up a good selection of your standard American Southwest BBQ. The Memphis Pulled Pork sandwich is probably my favorite thing there (the smoked chicken sandwich is also very good) and it comes with a side. The BBQ plates at the Roadside are also very good and filling.
The ribs and pulled pork are the best. I found the brisket to be a little disappointing – dry and sort of bland. The side dishes vary widely. The Mac and Cheese, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes are a bit bland (and the potatoes don’t even come with gravy!). The beans, salad, and garlic fries are about the best. There’s an assortment of sauces and slathers to accompany your meal (spicy mustard is my favorite). The Roadside BBQ can get pretty busy, but the staff is friendly and fast and they serve beer and wine. |
