Located in the heart of San Francisco's Mission district, Pancho Villa Taqueria has become a favorite Mexican restaurant for the non-hispanic community. If you happen to walk-by after 4pm, you will see a huge line waiting to place an order at this cafeteria style restaurant. This is probably because it is very tasty, well lighted, extremely clean and has many vegetarian options.
Whilst slightly under-the-influence, on a New Year's eve party bus organized by Extranomical Adventures Inc, I ordered my favorite Mexican, Super Chicken Quesadilla. I must say, it tasted fabulous. The portions were divided by four, with a good amount of avocado. I ventured back to Pancho Villa Taqueria a few days ago, and unfortunately the taste sensation wasn't as great. There was a definite lack of cheese, which is a shame as I love cheese. My advice, ask for extra cheese! Their salsas were very good and they had many awards from state fairs displayed on the wall.
One thing to note about Pancho Villa Taqueria is that it is on the pricey side of your fast food Mexican restaurants in San Francisco. On average Super Burritos and Super Quesadillas are around the $10 mark, unlike the average $6 or $7 in most Mexican fast food restaurants. Agua Frescas are towering into the $2.75 price range. For that price you may as well buy fresh juice!
On a good note, it was positive to see that they had a disability employment program in place. After all, we all need to make a living somehow.
