Mijita is a delicious Mexican restaurant located in the culinary epicenter of San Francisco, the Ferry Buliding.
What’s on the menu?
This San Francisco based Mexican restaurant can compete with any Mexican restaurant in Mexico since it has maintained many very authentic and traditional Mexican flavors. For example, the QUesadilla Mijita is done by frying the masa (tortilla dough) instead of using previously cooked tortillas and filling them with cheeze (so this one is more like a calzone). This MIjita Quesadilla also contains Epazote, a mexican herb that provides the quesadilla a slightly bitter flavor that goes very well with the masa and cheese. The Epazote, is an ingredient that is very traditional to Mexico and not commonly found in San Francisco Mexican restaurants which are quite good in comparison to other Mexican resaturants around the US. Other favorites at Mijita are Huevos Rancheros, sunny side up eggs with home made salsa on top and a side of delicious refried beans. The chilaquiles are also great and the "gavachos" (what we Mexicans call Americans) seem to be addicted to this dish.
