What's On the Menu?
The outside of this Pacific Heights sushi restaurant is not pretty, but once you get in and see the menu, all your worries are put to rest. Alongside the standard sashimi/nigiri rolls, Wasabi & Ginger offers an excellent list of custom specialty treats, with something for every sushi fan. Check out the Super Dynamite (Spicy tuna, avocado, lightly fried w/spicy unagi sauce) if you like it hot, or the Irish roll (Snow crab, unagi, mango, tobiko wrapped in soybean paper) if you want something a little different. Sashimi pieces are a little small, but the rolls are large and reasonably priced. The fish is tasty and when they say spicy, they mean spicy!
Service?
The sake list is lacking and the place is not as pretty as some other high-end sushi spots in San Francisco, but this is an excellent spot for great food without a wait or breaking the bank. Wasabi & Ginger is not usually busy, so the service is available and ready to help out. From the free edemame to the two flat-screens showing games, it is a casual, relaxed environment.
Anything Else?
There is a cozy, screened-off area, available for large parties if you want to have a private dinner. Definitely worth visiting if you happen to be in the Pacific Heights or Russian Hill area.
